WNYU AM 810 was heard in the NYU dormitories and the Washington Square student center in NYC. WNYU FM was licensed to New York University and broadcast at 89.1 Monday through Friday from 4 PM to 1 AM.

In other hours WNYU FM's on-air frequency was shared with Fairleigh Dickinson University who operates WFDU FM in New Jersey. WNYU, a non profit, noncommercial public radio station was operated and managed by NYU students.
