WUSS 1490 Atlantic City Radio
Return to the Powerhouse Radio Airchecks

WUSS was the first Black owned and operated radio station in New Jersey (1974) going on the air four years before live casino gambling in Atlantic City (1978).

Here is Kingsley H. Smith, a member of the original staff on WUSS Atlantic City, New Jersey (1976 aircheck).

Super Bonus!

WUSS was Kingsley's first full time announcing job and the same for Cleo Rowe (pictured with Kingsley) who is saluted in the WUSS aircheck. Cleo and Kingsley remained super friends through the years. She passed away in 2010.

Cleo would always send Kingsley airchecks from the different stations she worked at. Here are three: WPLJ New York City (between 1984 - 1989), Hot 105 Miami, Florida (between 1996 - 1999), and SiriusXM Satellite Radio New York City (2004).

WUSS Atlantic City went through many changes. Here is a collection of brief 1490 AM airchecks from six brothers and sisters recorded at the station between 1975 - 1977 at different times of the year.
